“Future Weapons” was a favourite show amongst airsoft players during the great airsoft frenzy in the late aughts of the 21st Century. From 2006-2008, 3 seasons, and 29 episodes, the audience were treated to some of the advanced weaponry and future firearms that we all wanted to have airsoft versions. It was hosted by Richard “Mack” Machowicz, who became a most familiar face to airsoft players before the likes of Travis Haley and Chris Costa became the admired personalities in airsoft.
It is on a sad note to learn that Mack passed away last 2 January 2017 at the age of 51, after a two-year battle with brain cancer. Prior to his death, Mack was signed up by the History Challenge to host the “Ultimate Soldier Challenge” according to the We Are The Mighty website.
Apart from “Future Weapons”, he has hosted 10 episodes of Spike Network’s “Deadliest Warrior” and six episodes of History Channel’s “Ultimate Soldier Challenge”. He had also authored one book in 2002, the “Warrior Within” a motivational book to "Develop the Focus, Discipline, Confidence, and Courage You Need to Achieve Unlimited Goals.” He also was a contributor to History Channels “America: The Story of Us” and “Mankind:The Story of All of Us.”
Mackowicz was a former U.S. Navy SEAL, spending 10 years with SEAL Teams One and Two. In SEAL Team Two, he was Naval Special Warfare Scout/Sniper and Leading Petty Officer of Land, Mountain and Arctic Warfare. He was also a certified Naval Special Warfare Combat Fighting Instructor Course and as a Naval Special Warfare Scout/Sniper.
