If ever you tire of playing Pokémon Go on your mobile when you are out and about, here is something that you might want to have installed on your mobile phone if you are an airsofter --- an Augmented Reality (AR) – based mobile game that carries the name of biggest TV series about zombies, The Walking Dead.
AMC, the company behind The Walking Dead series, and Finnish game developer Next Games have announced they will soon be releasing a location based AR mobile game. Called The Walking Dead: Our World, players get to play alongside their favorite Walking Dead characters, especially Rick, Daryl and Michone. The characters are placed digitally into the AR game and you’ll be able to battle zombies wherever you are, on the streets or in the comfort of your home.
While the series and the comic book that series is based have their character stories, the mobile game looks like is plainly more like zombie killing. There are still a lot of questions about the game such as how weapons and ammo will be acquired; and if you are used to Pokémon Go, how you get to detect zombies around your vicinity as well as how you can move from one level to another.
Pokémon Go player base has dwindled down since its launch last year, but it has made a big impact on how games on mobile phones using AR are developed. The game has health benefits if players continue playing beyond the initial enthusiasm as they walk to different landmarks to catch rare Pokémons as well sa get items from Pokéstops. Will The Walking Dead: Our World be going this same route or will it be more of just randomly dropping in zombies wherever a gamer is?
Personally, I am curious about the weapons list of this mobile game, just like any airsoft player. I just hope that it allows you to get weapons and ammo for free rather than charge you for it. I would not mind if there are few ads to see or watch in between waves of walkers.
